Microsoft has made it pretty clear that PowerShell is intended to be the future of Windows administration. Toward that end, they've recently released a PowerShell module for managing Lync Online.

Windows PowerShell seems to be one of those things you either love or you hate. I haven't encountered many folks who are indifferent to it. Whether you adore the "back to basics" simplicity and speed of text-based administration and scripting or dread the return to the "dark place" that conjures up memories of the DOS command line, PowerShell appears to be here to stay and it's getting more powerful all the time.
