Reducing Attack Surface with Application Control

Application control (a.k.a. application white listing) is one way to prevent malware infections and protect against attacks caused by both software vulnerabilities and unsafe user behavior - but it's a double-edged sword.

Application control can be effective in blocking many types of malicious software, but there are drawbacks for end users who are limited by its restrictions and for admins who must manage the whitelist.
