Group Policy Management

FEATURED: Specops Password Policy Listing updated: January 31, 2011

Since passwords are the primary authentication method in Active Directory, strong password policies are essential for securing access. Specops Password Policy, enforces password complexity rules defined by your organization.

A significant limitation with standard password functionality is that only a single complexity rule can be applied across the entire domain, affecting all user accounts in the same way independent of their security risk factor. Specops Password Policy overcomes this restriction by allowing you to specify multiple password policies based on rules you define. It is based on Group Policy technology, and can be configured in any number of group policies within the Active Directory.

NetWrix Group Policy Change Reporter Listing updated: September 2, 2011

Group Policy auditing is a must-have procedure for all organizations relying on Group Policy for infrastructure consistency, security and compliance. This product sends daily GPO audit reports detailing setting change made to GPO objects thus monitoring GPO in-depth. The reports list newly created and deleted GPOs, GPO link changes, changes made to audit policy, password policy, software deployment, user desktops, and all other settings. The data includes Who, What, When and Where information for all changes including the previous and current values for each modified GPO setting. Group Policy auditing reports are designed to be used for compliance audits, such as SOX, HIPAA, and PCI.

Two important pieces in the Active Directory database are the User accounts and Computer accounts in your network environment. Information about the users and computers are thus stored in Active Directory and replicated around the network on the Domain Controllers.
