IÒm here today to talk to you about a crisis that is confronting all of us, a crisis that has crept upon us almost unobserved as we have rushed headlong to embrace the knowledge age. The dimensions of this crisis will be spelled out by President Clinton in a major speech this Friday. I wanted to give you some advance notice on what he has to say and some advance warning on why what he has to say is not what we want to hear. The theme of his speech will be the threat of terrorism and the threat that poses to the critical infrastructure now and into the next century. And it comes against a backdrop where the government, if not industry, recognizes that defending the critical infrastructure is the number one national security issue confronting us today.
