Internet connection checklist
- Turn off all unnecessary services
- Use firewalling to block access to services if possible
- Use TCP_WRAPPERS to restrict access to services
- Run nmap and nessus against the host minimally
- SSL wrap services such as POP and IMAP
- Use SSH instead of Telnet
- Ensure software is up to date
